A Little Help...

I think that my blog looks a little boring, and could really use something to spice it up a bit. The only problem is that I haven't the first idea how to do it!

Does anyone out there have a few tips? Please, make sure that they are stupidly easy to follow as I'm a complete beginner! :)

There's quite a few templates to chose from in the Default Template Bin. Log in to Blogger and go to the Template tab. It'll come up with a window with lots to text to edit. If you look just under the main tabs there's a link with "choose new" written on it. Click that and you'll see lots of templates. Find one you like and press "use template". It's as simple as that to change your blog's look. If you want to then change how that template looks then the easiest thing to start on is colour and font. Usually near the top of your template there will be an area with a stylesheet. For example, for your current template it starts like this:

body {
background:#fff;
margin:0;
padding:40px 20px;
font:x-small Georgia,Serif;
text-align:center;
color:#333;

and so on. To change the backgroud colour, just change the number next to "background". It's in HEX code, if you search for "HTML Colors" in Google, you'll come up with pages with tables showing you the different codes for different colours. Be sure to end the number with a semi-colon (;) as that's how style sheets work. The "color" tag sets the colour of the text, you can change this in the same way. There's lots of things you can play with in the style sheet to change how your blog looks, that's just a couple of examples to get you started. If you want more help, feel free to e-mail me at mels.smblog@googlemail.com. I hate to see people ask for HTML help and not recieve it, I was in the same boat not too long ago.

(Oh, and I'm a red-head by the way :) )
